- muddy paths- people walks to the side- widens the path
- high rainfall in the LDNP- soil which has been loosened by people walking on it gets walked away.
- mountain banks cuts deeper into the paths, speeding up the process of erosion
-people take short cuts away from the designated paths- destroys the plants and grass etc

Solution- sign posts, encouraging people to stay on the path- Not effective because people may ignore the signs and making them too big may be unsightly
Solutions, cloche netting- mesh put down which allows replanting of grass seed- mesh holds in place. Not effective because it only works in places of minor erosion but won help in deep erosion.
Solution, stone pitching, large blocks of local stone are put on the path- hard wearing so wont erode quickly. It’s not effective because because its hard to access steeper and higher areas with heavy stone, it is also expensive with £100 a meter

-dust- can settle in crops and peoples gardens , can block light and restrict growth for the crops, also causing breathing difficulties for asthmatics
- large trucks for transferring rocks, in towns such as Keswick on Windermere can cause vibrations and damage buildings, it can also create traffic congestions

- solution, plant trees to screen quarry from view, not effective because trees take a long time to grow and it doesn’t stop noise pollution
- solution, restrict blasting times to less busy days and avoid tourist season, not effective because it doesn’t stop completely and people will still complain
- ensure rucks are covered, effective because it means there will be less trucks in town
- restoration plans can be required in which quarries have to return to nature when they leave, effective because it can create new habitats so natives can live and it will also remove the scar on the landscape
