• When offender actions permit, focus on de escalation (comms, prevention, cordon, wait)
• Never go unnecessarily into danger. However is the offenders action are likely to cause casualties police must act immediately to prevent this.
• Treat all armed offenders/believed to be armed offenders as dangerous and hostile until there is evidence otherwise.
• Where practical police should not use a firearm unless it can be done without danger to others.
