Q

Why are Class B, C, & D’s shelf heights always measured in reference to MSL?
-For uniformity purposes. It makes Air Traffic Controller’s lives easier when telling manned aircraft what to do. Especially knowing they are all flying at altitudes in reference to the same point (the mean sea level of the entire earth which is a constant).
-Because the FAA likes to make things as confusing as possible.
-Because they’re uncontrolled airspace.
