Answer 1

• made up of a single independent (main) clause

• may have introductory phrases, but the introductory phrase is part of the predicate

Example:
1. Ben usually wears his heavy coat in the winter.
2. In the winter, Ben usually wears his heavy coat.

• two or more independent clauses
• joined by a coordinate conjunction (FANBOYS) or by a semicolon
  ° For, And, Nor, But, Or, Yet,
  So = FANBOYS

Example:
We saw the flash of lightning, and seconds later we heard a rumble of thunder.
