What are three examples of lighting?

A
  1. Opening- shadow passes through beam of light from stage right ( draws attention to external force, impression of window or door)
  2. Daughter solo- sidle lights give effect of outside, whole stage is lit (reflects frantic mood)
  3. Sons solo- corridor effect, son is blocking door (emphasises motif of pathway, focuses attention on son)

What are three examples of aural setting?

A
  1. Daughter- frantic, violin,fast tempo, (matches anxious character)
  2. Mother, father ,daughter trio- soft and slow, piano, violin ( contrasts previous section, calming/soothing daughter)
  3. Son solo- climax, use of chords, banging sounds from fists and props (heightened emotion, narrative climax, imitates stress)
