Shock definition
Life threatening condition where body struggles to get enough oxygen to their blood supply due to a shocking event that stuns the body. Signals of shock come to different parts of the body. Body can go into deadly organ failure.
Early stages of shock
Apprehensive, anxious, listless and confused. This is when shock can worsen.
Breathing during shock
Fast and irregular or slow and shallow. Pulse can increase slightly or become rapid and weak.
Treatment of shock
Call 911 to treat shock and have the person in shock lie down flat to control any external bleeding. Help maintain normal body temperature and give no food or drink. Constantly monitor individual.
