Q

What is the central executive purpose and capacity and coding?

A

Monitors incoming data . Makes decisions and allocates slave systems to the data.

Q

AO3 - KF case study

A

He couldn’t remember when digits were read out to him but could when he read them his self.
A strength as shows there are different stores for sight and sound.
Supports the working memory model
Generalise with caution as a case study

Q

AO3 - Baddeley Study

A

Asked participants to track a light and describe how to write an F and his participants were able to as they use different stores of the brain where memory is stored.
Increases validity

Q

AO3 : central executive lacks clarity and detail

A

Central executive lacks clarity and detail.baddley described as a general attentional system as it allocated resources but didn’t clearly explain the role and if it has separate components. This means it is difficult to test scientificly reducing the validity. Some psychologists also suggest that central executive may actually be made up of several components rather than one which means that working memory model is overly simplistic which weakens the explanatory power of the model as doesn’t explain how it fully works
