• Emphasises the importance of the shot
• Allows audience to build up a relationship with them

Extreme close-up

• Conveys emotion to the audience
• Often in key parts of the story

Medium shot

• Body from the waist upwards
• Shows some background and body language
• Focus on the character and feelings

Long shot

• Full body is shown
• Shows location or relationships between characters
• Often first shot of a sequence

High-angle shot

• Makes a person look vulnerable
• Designed to make the audience side with the character
