Fulcrum Load Effort
First class levar
The fulcrum is in the middle and either side the rest. An example is a tricep dip.
Second class levar
The load is in the middle and the rest either side. An example is a calf raise.
Third class levar
The effort is in the middle and the rest elsewhere. An example is a bicep curl.
Mechanical advantage
When the effort is further in the end of a levar, making the work of what is being lifted easier. Therefore only the first and second class have this, the third class is a mechanical disadvantage.
