ACT 14

A documented way of working, or an arrangement of facilities, at the coal mine to achieve an acceptable level of risk, developed after consultation with coal mine workers.

What are the steps to develop a SOP

A

REG10

Process
a) SSE to consult with cross section of the workforce that carry out the task

b) SSE to prepare draft SOP and give copy to CMWs involved
c) if all CMWs agree, SSE to prepare as the final SOP

Disagreements
if CMWs do not agree
a) if a non-legal or non-technical matter, SSE to decide the matter and prepare final SOP

b) if legal or technical matter, obtain further information and advice from experienced and qualified persons to give advice, or from a recognised text, SSE to give copy to CMWs involved.

c) if CMWs still do not agree, SSE to decide matter and prepare final SOP

SSE to include in the SHMS
Final SOP must accord with-
a) all maters agreed, under section between CMWs and SSE

b) the SSEs decision, under this section for all disagreed matters

c) must keep a record of all disagreed matters

Tools
a) must use risk assessment method recognised by the industry
b) must use the mining hazard database kept by the CEO under section 280 ACT
