What are diphthong?
Diphthongs are one phoneme consisting of two vowels element.
- the first vowel are onglide, the second, off glide.
- -has 2 distinct articulatory position.
TONGUE
- -primary articulatory of vowel
- -attached to mandible,so jaw position is linked to vowel production
- -as tongue change position, size and shape of pharynx also change
- -if tongue produce a constriction in vocal tract, it’s NOT vowel, but consonant phoneme
VOWEL PRODUCTIONS
- -Each vowel has a unique articulatory position by a combinations of tongue height, tongue advancement and lips rounding.
- -Each change in position change the resonance in the vocal tract. –The change of resonanance give each vowel it unique quality that allow them to be recognize by the listeners

SONORANT CONSONANTS/RESONANCES CONSONANTS
- -class of sound produce with resonance throughout entire vocal tract (eg. Nasal, liquid, glides)
- -they produce with little constriction in the vocal tract and therefore produce without much turburlance in the airstream coming from the larynx

Sound produce with a narrow constriction through which air air escape with a continuous noise
