Q

Question: School likability

Detention for silly reasons

White socks or black socks

Question: awareness

Related but not by blood

Who really interrupted their education.

(should be around 48 seconds)

A

Have you ever heard someone say they really like school? (pause) Well I haven’t and I’ve taken a moment to think about that. Majority of students are being punished in school for something minor. For example, I’ve been given a detention for not wearing the correct coloured socks in a PE lesson. Do you understand how ridiculous that is? Correct me if I’m wrong but shouldn’t a teacher want to hurry up and start a lesson instead of abusing power by wasting “valuable” learning time making a big deal out of nothing. And even after scolding you, they try and act friendly. Now I’m not too confident but you’ve probably heard a teacher refer to your class as a ‘family’. I know I have and I find it irritating mostly since family doesn’t make you sit at a isolated desk for an hour because apparently you did something that disturbed other people’s learning even though the teacher stopped teaching to alert everyone as to what you were doing.

Q

Dead obvious needs

Punishment: practically truancy

Angry at retaliation

Stats

(Should be about 40 seconds)

A

Also there are so many rules in school that you forget them and there are so many that strip students of basic rights. An obvious example, not being allowed to use the toilet in lesson. You know that if you walked out of class to use the toilet after the teacher said no you’d be receiving a detention. Schools have the audacity to get mad and double down on these rules when students don’t want to follow them. It makes you realise they actually don’t care about the students that go to their school they just care if students go to their school. And when they don’t then it gets real serious. I saw an article that said about 1 in 4 children skip school persistently. That may not sound too drastic but think about how many kids are in a school then apply those statistics. Schools get angry at students for missing lessons but are the same ones who love to use isolation. Why make rules that contradict your words?

Q

Following in dictatorship

Rule: Popular

Schools wasting money

Students are nothing to schools

You have to go to school

Don’t damage your own future.

(Should be about 59 seconds)

A

And as if that wasn’t enough, the teachers follow these rules without thinking twice and some times they take it a step further. We all know the common rule of not being allowed to take your blazer off during school hours. Schools act like it’s a crime when you don’t wear a piece of uniform and proceed to give you an unnecessary detention. If you’re forcing me to wear uniform at least make it comfortable. Instead of spending money on useless things, spend money on things that benefit the students as they are literally the main thing that make up a school. Seriously, if you don’t have students then you don’t have a school but they don’t understand that because they don’t care. They don’t care if students feel as if the treatment towards them is unfair because to them we’re inferior. They know it doesn’t matter if you don’t want to go to school because in most cases you have to. You go to school to learn, you go to school to socialize and you go to school to get an education. Furthermore, you need an education to get a job and you need a job to get money because you need money to survive. So you can’t jeopardise that or your jeopardising your own future.

Q

Over-the-top?

Examples: give it a rest

Humans not robots

Alliteration

(Should be about 33 seconds long)

A

You may think I’m being dramatic but it does get to a point. Personally, I think schools should get rid of some rules or at least be a bit lenient with them. Maybe they should consider not giving detentions for being like 3 minutes late or for wearing flashy earrings. It’s just not worth it. Schools give students detentions for unjustifiable reasons and wonder why children say thing like this. They really want us to fit into their corrupt rules and just accept like we’re lifeless robots but that’s just not what we came to school to do. I’m pretty sure we came to school to learn and lead no to be limited.

Have you ever heard someone say they really like school? (pause) Well I haven’t and I’ve taken a moment to think about that. It makes sense. In a place that’s supposed to support children, majority of them are being punished in for minor things For example, I’ve been given a detention for not wearing the correct coloured socks in a PE lesson. Do you understand how ridiculous that is? Correct me if I’m wrong but shouldn’t a teacher want to hurry up and start a lesson so students actually learn something which is deemed as ‘useful’.
I genuinely think schools don’t understand how many rules there are in their institutions and how most of them blatantly strip students of basic rights. It is a certified right to be able to use the toilet at any time in any place, so who decided school is an exception? Those people in power have the audacity to get mad and double down on these rules when students don’t want to follow them. It makes you realise they actually don’t care about the students that go to their school they just care if students go to their school and when they don’t then it gets real serious. I saw an article that said about 1 in 4 children skip school persistently. Schools look at that number and instantly think the students are to blame. They forget that people get sick, people get into accidents, people grieve and people aren’t in the right headspace most of the time. They don’t take those things into consideration and sometimes, neither do the teachers.
They are the ones follow these rules without thinking twice but not because they think it’ll help the students but because they need to get paid. Some times they take it a step further. The common rule of not being allowed to take your blazer off during school hours is ruthless. The moment you take off a piece of uniform is moment you apparently start disrespecting the school. If your going to force students to wear uniform at least make it comfortable. The amount of money they spend on useless things is outrageous. They barely spend money on things that benefit the students as they even though we are literally the main thing that make up a school. Seriously, if you don’t have students then you don’t have a school but they don’t understand that because they don’t care. They don’t care if students feel as if the treatment towards them is unfair because to them we’re ‘young adults’. We’re not young adults we’re children but that clearly doesn’t matter. They just want you to hurry up and remember loads of work so they can cram it into a test. Plus this is compulsory. This is school thr place you go to learn, to socialize and to get an education. Why? Because you need an education to get a job and you need a job to get money because you need money to survive. So you can’t jeopardise that or your jeopardising your own future.
You may think I’m being dramatic but it does get to a point. Because teachers love to act like they’re the most superior person in the, trying to portray themselves as high and mighty to students sitting right in front of them and it’s disgusting. How am I supposed to see you as superior when your shoving so much standards onto me that I can’t breathe? They expect us to have the same mindset, the same reaction time as a full grown adult. And if we don’t we’re labelled as troublemakers and used as examples of someone who going to fail in life to scare other students. Personally, I think schools should open their eyes and really understand why students don’t like being in a place that supposed to make them feel safe and supported because some times that’s all they have. Schools don’t see that. They just really want us to fit into their twisted views and just accept it like we’re lifeless robots but that’s just not what we came to school to do. I’m pretty sure we came to school to learn and lead no to be limited.
Thank you.
