put the leaf in a tube full of ethanol and led it boile with the bunsen burner off for 10 minuets. reason is to remove chlorophyll from the leaf.

leaf is washed in water to soften the leaf

is to place the leaf on a white tile with iodine solution on it. reason because iodine will show the presses of starch by changing colures

Observe the colour change if the leaf is blue/black from its previous brown colour there is a presence of starch in the leaf
