What is the role of a supervisor?
The Supervisor is there to educate the social worker and improve job performance
The supervisor is there to deal with issues of:
transference and counter-transference
Personal conflict/bias
Bias against the client
Ex: Anything that may interfere with the client’s treatment
Should a supervisor provide therapy in supervision?
NO. The supervisor is supportive but does not explore the social worker’s inner feelings
(i.e. provide therapy)
