Q

The a/c fuel system consists of how many tank systems and how does each system work?

A
  • one tank system for each engine so 2 total and the systems are connected by a cross-feed line.
Each system has a main & auxiliary system
Each main system consists of a nacelle tank a integral wing tank and 2 of the following (wing leading edge tanks(2), box section bladder tanks(2)), these tanks are all gravity feed into the nacelle tanks.
The filler (fuel cap) for these is located on top of the wing near the wingtip.

The aux fuel system consists of an auxiliary tank which is located in the wingtip inboard of the engine nacelle.
-filled automatically through an overwing filler(fuel cap), this tank transfers fuel straight to the main system and when the aux tanks contain fuel it is used first and automatically transfers fuel into the nacelle tank.

Q

What is the standby fuel boost pump driven by an what are its 3 functions

A

The standby by low pressure boost pump is electrically driven. It’s functions are:
1. Back up for engine driven boost pump
2. To pump aviation gas above FL200
3. To pump fuel during cross feed
