90-degree ell and 45-degree ell , Elbow used to change the direction of the pipeline by 90 or 45 degrees.
Drop ear ell , An elbow that allows you to attach the pipeline to the building frame; frequently used at the last joint before the pipe comes through the wall to be attached to a fixture.
Street 90 , An elbow with a male end and a female end that is used to change the direction of the pipeline by 90 degrees.
Street 45 , An elbow with a male end and a female end that is used to change the direction of the pipeline by 45 degrees.
Tee , A fitting with three openings used to make branches at 90-degree angles to the main pipe. Reducing tees are used to make branches at 90-degree angles from the main pipe to smaller outlet pipes.
Coupling , A fitting used to connect lengths of pipe on straight runs.
Sweat cap , A fitting used to close the end of a copper pipe.
Female and male adapters , Fittings soldered onto the end of a length of copper tubing to provide a threaded end for attaching a pipe to another threaded pipe.
Sweat-to-compression adapter , A fitting used to adapt a soldered copper tube to a compression joint by means of a ferrule, which is a brass compression ring used for joining. A compression joint consists of a threaded nut that has been squeezed over a compression ring to seal the joint.
Sweat flange , A fitting used to adapt soldered copper tube to iron pipe flange.
Reducer coupling , A fitting used to connect a larger pipe to a smaller pipe. This coupling fits over the outside of both pipe ends.
Reducer bushing , A fitting used to connect two pieces of pipe with different diameters. This bushing fits inside of a fitting to reduce its size.
Sweat union , A copper or brass fitting used to connect two pieces of pipe. This fitting can be detached without having to cut the pipe.
Flare fittings , Fittings with a flared end that can be joined with a male cone-shaped tubing end or union. Flare fittings used in refrigeration and air conditioning include a variety of elbows, tees, and unions. They are drop-forged brass and are accurately machined to form the 45-degree flare face. The fittings used are based on the size of the tubing. Flare nuts are hexagon-shaped (having six sides). An adjustable, or open-end, wrench is used with these fittings.
Grooved copper , A mechanical coupling material for rigidly connecting copper tubing that has been roll-grooved. Grooved copper fittings are made for connecting copper tubing in sizes from 2” to 8”. These fittings have grooved ends, so they can be installed using a wrench. This eliminates the need for soldering or brazing.
SharkBite® Fittings , Push-fit connections that use stainless steel teeth and a compressible O-ring seal.
ProPress® Fittings , Pressed fittings that do not require sweating.
