Counter-Terrorism
The authorities response to preventing or protecting us from terrorist acts.
Extremism
The promotion or advancement of ideas based on hate, intolerance, or violence to achieve an aim.
Ideology
A set of beliefs, practices, attitudes and values that influence how a person interacts with the world.
Radicalisation
The process that through which people come to support problematic ideas and in itself is a form of harm.
S.1 Terrorism Act
Use or threat of actions, designed to influence the government or international government.

to intimidate the public or section of.
AND
is made in order to advance a political, religious, radical, or ideological cause.
S.41 Terrorism Act
Arrest without warrant. Reasonably suspect to be a terrorist.
PREVENT (Terrorism)
To stop people becoming terrorists or supporting terrorism:
Tackling the ideological causes
Intervening early to support those susceptible to radicalisation
Enabling disengagement and rehabilitation.
