Chlohexidine = 30 seconds
Betadine = 2 min minimum

What is a pulse oximeter?
Detects oxygen saturation in the blood
( MIN read of 95% )
Where is a pulse oximeter placed?
Most effective on tongue
- placed on any non-pigmented skin
- ear if tongue not available
What happens if the pulse oximeter read is under 95%?
Not enough O2
What is a Doppler?
- reads blood pressure
- plays sound to ensure blood flow
Where is Doppler placed?
- over artery
- typically on front or hind paw arteries
What else is used with the Doppler?
- blood pressure cup - placed on same limb as Doppler
What is a thermometer used for?
- ensuring body temp.
- allowing for lower body temp.
- no lower than 35°C
