Q

Describe how you would position/instruct pt to perform prone breathing with rotation if they had depressed sternum

A

for L sternal expansion, have pt lay prone with head turned to R (R posterior expansion and L ANTERIOR EXP), with R leg and arm slightly flexed

Have pt push into floor with right leg and arm = isometric contraction to help engage core and use diaphragm

gravity will help pull sternum forward with breathing

Q

If you want R side anterior expansion using the army crawl iso, which side are the limbs closer together (sidebended)?

Q

explain hook lying armbar

A

lie supine and hold kettlebell straight up over shoulder on side you’re trying to expand.

Q

explain sidelying stride with pump handle

A

sidelying with top leg extended and pushing into wall, top arm out in front, protracting further with each breath

incorporates posterior chain activation with protraction
