Clotrimazole

Cream or liquid
- apply thin layer to clean and dry affected and surrounding skin twice daily
- continue for 2 weeks after healed
- Adverse effects: local irritation

Terbinafine

Answer 2

Cream/gel - adult, children > 12: thin layer to clean dry skin of affected and surrounding area ONCE daily before bed (for 7 days, come back if not improve after 2 weeks)
Spray - spray onto clean, dry affected skin (sufficient to wet thoroughly) before bed for 7 days
- Let dry before doing other activities
- Adverse effects - local irritation, redness, itching

Question 3

Tinea referral

Answer 3

• extensive, severe, or persistent infection
• infection of scalp, beard or nail matrix
• lack of response to topical therapy
• prior treatment with a topical corticosteroid
• signs of secondary bacterial infection (e.g. swelling, purulent drainage, fever)
• medical history of diabetes or immune deficiency

• diabetes
• hot, humid environments
• using public pool + communal baths
• wearing tight clothing or footwear
• immunosuppression
• skin-to-skin contact with an infected person
• contact with household pets or farm animals
• contact with contaminated clothing, towels and bedding
