While performing transfer techniques:
It is important to ergonomically transfer the patient safely
Minimal assistance
Patient may require only minimal assistance to transfer.
Moderate assistance
The patient may only be able to transfer him or herself with partial assistance
Maximal assistance
The patient may require complete assistance to transfer from one place to another.
Most common type of transfers performed:
Hoyer lift
Used if patient is paralyzed, bed bound, or have contractures (I.e. disabled children, obese people)
Hydraulic pump
Helps to ergonomically lift and transfer the patient
