• develop in tropics

• they begin with an area of low pressure

how do tropical storms form?

Answer 3

1. the sun sends incoming solar radiation to the earth which warms our oceans
2. this warms the oceans to 27 degrees
3. the high sea temp causes warm moist air to rise
4. the evaporated air cools as it rises and condenses to form towering thunderstorms
5. as the air condenses it releases heat which powers the storm and draws up more and more water from the ocean
6. several smaller thunderstorms join together to form a giant spinning storm
7. storm develops an eye (conditions calm here) the outer edge of eye wall is where strong winds occur
8. as the storm is carried across the ocean it continues to gather strength
9. as the storm moves towards land its energy supply is cut off as friction with the land weakens the storm

• lic’s don’t have access to tv and radio etc so therefore cannot communicate
• lack of education in LIC
• LIC’S are more densley populated
• HIC’S have better protection methods resources and information
• poorer countries cannot support themselves
• hic’s have more money
