Tower Evacuation Procedures

1. Down the stairwell to the ground level. IN CASE OF FIRE, DO NOT USE THE ELEVATOR.
2. ensure all aircraft in the Class D are advised that the ATCT is being evacuated and either land at NTU, depart VFR, or divert to an alternate field.
3. FD operator will record the ATIS stating, “NAS Oceana Control Tower has been evacuated and is being operated from a remote location.” If time does not allow for recording secure the ATIS.
4. The FD operator will be the first to leave the Tower with the “Go-Bag” after adding the
   following items: Light Gun, two hand-held radios located by the TS console and the Tower
   URC-200.
5. The following DRFO entry shall be made by the TS prior to leaving the ATCT: (time) ATCT evacuated due to (reason for evacuation).
6. The TS, LC, and GC shall immediately check out either 0 or 00 from the AFS to serve as the Mobile control Tower (MCT), station the MCT on the airfield at the discretion of the TS, and establish communications with the URC-200/PET-2000 radios on 360.2 and 127.075.
