Causes of uneven development
Colonisation:
* Counties that were colonised are often at a lower development gap
* European countries colonise many countries in Asia, Africa, Australasia and the Americas and removed raw materials profiting from them
Conflict:
* War, especially civil war can slow or reduce development
* Money is spent on arms and training soldiers instead of development, people are killed, and damage is done
* Important services are such as healthcare are disrupted which can lead to an increase in infant mortality rate.
Consequences of uneven development
Wealth:
* People in more developed countries have a higher income, than those in less developed countries.
* Uneven development can also lead to big inequalities in wealth within countries
Health:
* Healthcare in more developed counties is usually better than in less developed countries, people in HICs live longer, and there is a lower infant mortality rate.
