More heat lost than produced Etiology: -Impairment of hypothalamus -heat loss greater than heat production -excessive loss of body heat
Thermoregulation
There are more cold receptors than warm receptors
Pyrexia
Body temp is above typical range
Hyper pyrexia
Very elevated body temp (above 105)
Afebrile
Patient does not have a fever
Hypothermia
Core body temperature is below limit of normal temp
