Q

banduras hypothesis

A

Children exposed to aggressive models would show more aggressive behaviour boys will show significantly more initiative aggression then girls and children were imitate same sex model behaviour

Q

what was the first stage of the procedure of Bandura study?

A

Children in the experimental conditions were individually taken into a room and sat at the table to play with potato prints and picture stickers for 10 minutes while the aggressive model begun by assembling a Tinkertoy set but after a minute turned to Bobo doll and spent the remainder of the period physically and verbally aggressing it using a standardised procedure the non-aggressive model assembled the tinker toys in a quiet subdued manner totally ignoring the Bobo doll

Q

what is phase 2 of the procedure in banduras study?

A

All children were taken individually to an enter room and subjected to mild aggression arousal. They got to play with attractive toys for two minutes and then they were taken away.

Q

what is the third phase in the procedure of Bonura study?

A

children individually taken to 3rd room which contained both aggressive and non-aggressive toys. They were observed through a one-way mirror for 20 minutes and every five seconds observer recorded behaviour in the categories imitative aggression partially mitigative and non-imitative.

Q

what are the key findings of Bandura study?

A

Children in aggressive model showed more imitation of physical and verbal aggression boys imitated male model more than girls and boys were more physical while girls were more verbal

Q

what were the measures in banduras study?

A

The independent variable was the sex of the model the sex of the child and whether the child witnessed aggressive or non-aggressive behaviour whilst the DV was the amount of initiative behaviour and aggression recorded in five second intervals

Q

how does bonjour study link to the developmental area?

A

Shows how children’s behaviour can be influenced by the behaviour of adult models. Ventura provide provides evidence for the social learning theory by showing that imitation is strongest when models are the same sex

13
Q

evaluate the research method used in Bandura study

A

A strength is that it has high level of control due to the standardised procedure which means it is easy to replicate and the researcher is more confident in increasing reliability. However weakness is that it has low ecological validity meaning it has an artificial environment and behaviour is not relevant in real life situations.

15
Q

evaluate the reliability of banduras study

A

A strength is that it has standardised procedure which means this consistency in the standardised physical aggression

16
Q

evaluate sampling bias in banduras study

A

A strength is that it uses opportunity sampling which means that participants are freely and readily available which makes it quick and easy. This saves money also opportunity samples means that there is more than one observer which reduces observation bias which has a high interior reliability so no behaviour is missed however a weakness is that it is a small ethnocentric study which lacks population validity so it means that it cannot be generalised to wider population

17
Q

evaluate ethnocentrism in banduras study

A

a weakness is that it has American bias this means that it is a collectivist culture which may emphasise behaviour of the role model

18
Q

evaluate the type of data used in Bandura study

A

Bonjour used quantitative data which is quick and easy to make statistical comparison which increases accuracy however it doesn’t explain behaviour

19
Q

evaluate the ethical considerations in Bandura study

A

A weakness is that children cannot give consent as a result they are unable to withdraw so they are not protected from psychological harm
