(Hand) Phalanges
the bones of the fingers and toes. Phalanges is the plural form of phalanx. You have 14 phalanges in each hand and in each foot
Acromioclavicular joint
Clavicle - where the acromion (part of the shoulder blade/scapula) articulates with the clavicle (collarbone) at the top of the shoulder.
Acromion
Scapula - the bony projection that forms the point of the shoulder
Anatomical neck
Humerus - a groove on the proximal (upper) end of the humerus (upper arm bone) that separates the head of the humerus from the greater and lesser tubercles
Lateral angle of the scapula
scapula - also known as the Glenoid process, the outside corner/edge of the outward facing angle of the scapula’s triangular shape
Axillary/Lateral border of the scapula
Scapula - bottom edge of the scapula that extends from the Glenoid fossa to the Inferior angle

T’s order - (-trum,-zium,-zoid)
This phrase corresponds to the bones in the order they appear in the hand (anterior/supine/anatomical view), starting with the proximal row from the thumb side to the pinky side and then continuing with the distal row from the thumb side to the pinky side. (Read lateral to medial in anatomial position, and bottom to top.)
Coracoid process
Scapula - a small, hook-like structure on the scapula (shoulder blade) located on the anterior (front) side of the scapula, just below the clavicle (collarbone) almost under the acromion.
Deltoid tuberosity
Humerus - a roughened, V-shaped area on the lateral (outer) side of the humerus approximately one-third of the way down the bone from the shoulder joint.
Glenoid fossa/cavity
Scapula - a shallow, pear-shaped socket on the lateral (outer) aspect of the scapula (shoulder blade). It serves as the articulation point for the humeral head (upper arm bone), forming the glenohumeral joint, which is the shoulder joint.
Greater tubercle/tuberosity of the Humerus (tuberosity is bigger)
Humerus - a prominent bony projection located on the lateral (outer) side of the humerus’s proximal (upper) end, just below the head of the humerus.
Head of the humerus
Humerus - the rounded, superior portion of the upper arm bone (humerus) that articulates with the glenoid cavity of the scapula, forming the glenohumeral joint (shoulder joint)
Head of the Radius
Radius -
Inferior angle of the scapula
Scapula - the bottom corner of the downward facing angle of the scapula’s triangular shape
Lateral epicondyle of the Humerus
a bony prominence located on the outer (lateral) side of the humerus, near the elbow joint (distal end of humerus).
Lesser tubercle
Humerus - a bony prominence located on the anterior aspect of the humerus, just below the head.
Smaller than the greater tubercle, but more prominent and directed medially and anteriorly.
Medial epicondyle of the Humerus
Humerus - It’s a bony projection on the medial (inner) side of the distal humerus.
Metacarpals
the five long bones in the palm of the hand, located between the carpals and phalanges. They are numbered 1 through 5, with the first metacarpal connected to the thumb and the fifth to the little finger.
Each metacarpal has a base, a shaft, and a head, and they articulate with both the carpals and phalanges.
Olecranon fossa
Humerus - a deep depression located on the posterior side of the distal humerus.
Function:
The olecranon fossa provides a space for the olecranon process of the ulna (the bony tip of the elbow) to fit into when the elbow is extended.
Olecranon process
Ulna - the bony prominence that makes up the “pointy” part of the elbow joint.
process vs fossa
a process is a prominent projection or outgrowth on a bone, while a fossa is a shallow depression or hollow in a bone
Shaft/Body of the Humerus
Humerus - the long main body of the bone
Spine of the scapula
Scapula - runs diagonally across the scapula, starting from the medial border and extending towards the acromion (the bony projection that forms the point of the shoulder).
Also acts as a divider for the posterior surface of the scapula.
Radial Styloid process
Radius - a bony projection located at the distal end of the radius bone in the anatomical lateral forearm, near the wrist (the bump on the thumb side of the wrist).
