Lower UTI (most common) is defined as an infection of the bladder - cystitis

E.coli

Urinary frequency
Dysuria
Urgency
Foul-smelling
Suprapubic pain
What shows on a urine dipstick
If dip is positive for nitrite, leukocyte and red blood cells a UTI is likely
Management
1st line is nitrofurantoin or trimethoprim
Advise patient on conservative measures to reduce risk of further infection - wee after sex, fluid intake.
