What does velocity tell you about an object?
- It’s direction of travel
Give an example of this
If a lorry travels along a straight road at 15m/s (metres per second), in one direction, the velocity is +15m/s. If it then travels in the opposie direction at the same speed, the velocity is -15m/s
What doesn’t matter about negative or positive?
It doesn’t matter which direction is called positive or negative as long as opposite directions have opposite signs
What idea is used when describing distance?
