Emmetropization
the proess by which the refractive state of the eye neutralises.
At birth the natural refrative state of the eye sit at around 2.00 DS +/- 2.00 DS, as the child grows the eye also grows and the refractive state of the eye neutralises
this is both an active and a passive process
Passive
this refers to normal eye growth, therefore as the eye physcially grows in size the power of the optical components decreases proportionally reducing the refractive error and therefore maintaining emmetropisation
Active
emmetropizatin describes a visual feedback mechanism in the control of eye gowth (visual experience)
