In severe and prolonged malabsorptive cases
How does Vitmain E (Tocopherol) deficiency present?
Peripheral neuropathy, skeletal myopathy, pigment retinopathy
May have favorable effects in NASH
TOXICITY: Can affect platelet aggregation (watch with Coumadin)
Vitamin E (Tocopherol) deficiency treatment
Alpha Tocopherol 800-1200mg po/day or
Vitamin E 15mg/dl for adults
