Pathology
Autoimmune destruction of melanocytes, may be familial or acquired
associated conditions : Addisons , Diabetes mellitus , pernicious , anemia , thyroid dysfunction
Lesion
Deep pigmented lesion macule and patches
Differential diagnosis
1)Leukoplakia
2)Tinea versicolor

1)Clinical evaluation
2)Woods light ( ivory =white ) (erythrasma = orange / green) ( tinea capitis = green) •
3)Additional test for autoimmune disease
Treatment
1)Sunscreen
2)Topical steroids
3)Topical calcineurin inhibitors
4)Psoralen + UVA therapy
5)Surgery ( micrografting , tattooing )
