● Contrast CT Abdo + Pelvis / USS → ‘whirlpool sign’
(due to twisting of mesentery around its base)
● AXR

Answer 2

Management: examine for signs of ischaemia, fluid
resuscitation.
● Conservative: sigmoidoscope decompression & flatus
tube.
● Surgical: if ischaemic, perforated, failed decompression
or necrosis
