analog vs digital imaging acquisition
analog:
continous, shades of grey only
digital:
matrix orientation (made of numbers)
discrete
Computer numbering system. and how many possible outcomes form a certain bit number is possible
N=2^n
8,4,2,1
e.g if we use 8 bits, then possible grey scale levels are 2^8 = 256
what is false contouring
when you don’t have enough bits per pixel i.e not enough shades of grey prevelant)
gives off false edges in colour because of lack of grey scale colouring
