Self-concept
In psychology, self-concept generally
refers to our mental picture of who we are. It is our
attempt to explain ourselves to ourselves, to build a
scheme (in Piaget’s terms) that organizes our
impressions, beliefs, and attitudes about ourselves
(Harter, 2006; Pajares & Schunk, 2001).
