List the steps to safe removal of a needle.
1) wash/sanitize hands
2) cotton ball in one hand, use counterpressure while other hand removes needle and hold cotton ball on site for 10 seconds (heat-clearing points are more likely to bleed)
3) immediately place needle in sharps container, throw out cotton ball
4) wash/ sanitize hands
What level disinfectant would you use for cups?
- on intact skin, low/intermediate level
- on non-intact skin, intermediate (if used over a needle)/high level (if used for prick and bleed)
