ASSASSINATION - Franz Ferdinand and wife assassinated by a Serb nationalist and member of the Black hand, Gavrilo Princip while in Sarajevo.
Austria blamed Serbia > Serbs fear invasion and call Russians, Aus. Hun calls Germany
Explain how the assassination led to all major EUR powers declaring war;
Gavrilo Princip of the Black Hand assassinated Franz Ferdinand. Aus.Hun blamed Serbia for this and sent them a set an ultimatum or else they would invade. Serbia, knowing they would be unable to fulfill the ultimatum, called on Russia for protection if something happens. Aus.Hun calls on Germany to intervene if Russia intervenes. Serbia cannot agree to everything, so Aus.Hun invades Serbia. Russia declares war on Aus.Hun. Germany declares war on Russia. Russia calls on France. Germany invades France through neutral Belgium, bringing the UK into war.
