Bicep Femoris O/I
O: long head - Ischial Tuberosity
Short head- lateral lip of the linea aspera
I: head of the fibula
Bicep Femoris actions
Flex the knee at the Tibiofemoral Jt
Extend the hip at the coxal joint
Tilt pelvis posteriorly lumbosacral jt
Since it’s the lateral hamstrings, they will laterally rotate the flexed knee at the tibiofemoral jt, and laterally rotate the hip at the coxal jt
Bicep Femoris Innervation
Sciatic nerve (Long head- tibial branch) (short head- fibular branch)
Semitendiosus O/I
O: ischial tuberosity
I: proximal, medial shaft of the tibia at the Pes Anserinus tendon
Semitendiosus actions
Flex the knee at the tibiofemoral joint, extend the hip at the coxal jt, tilt pelvis, posteriorly at the lumbosacral joint
And the medial hamstrings will immediately rotate the flex knee and the hip
Semitendinosus innervation
Sciatic nerve - tibial branch
Semimembranosus o/i
O: ischial tuberosity
I: posterior aspect of the medial condyle of tibia
Semimembranosus actions
Flex the knee at the tibial femoral joint, extend the hip at the coxal jt
Tilt pelvis, posteriorly at the lumbosacral joint, immediately rotate the flex knee, immediately rotate the hip
Semimembranosus nerve
Sciatic nerve - tibial branch
Tensor Fascia Latae O/I
O: iliac crest, posterior to the Anterior superior iliac spine
I: iliotibial tract
Tensor Fascia Latae actions
Flex the hip at the coxal joint
Abducts the hip at the coxal joint
Medially rotates the hip at the coxal joint
Tensor Fascia Latae nerve
Superior gluteal nerve
Rectus Femoris O/I
O: the anterior inferior iliac spine
I: tibial Tuberosity via the patella and patellar ligament
Rectus Femoris actions
Extend the knee at the tibiofemoral joint
Flex the hip at the coxal joint
vastus group actions
All vastus group extend the knee at the tibiofemoral joint
Vastus intermedius O:I
O/ anterior and lateral shaft of femur
I/ tibial Tuberosity via the patella and patellar ligament
Vastus Medialis O/I
O: medial lip of linea aspera
I: tibial Tuberosity via the patella and patellar ligament
Vastus lateralis O/I
O: lateral lip of linea aspera, gluteal Tuberosity and the greater trochanter
I: tibial Tuberosity via the patella and patellar ligament
Quad group nerve
Femoral
Adductor Longus O/I
O: pubic tubercle
I: medial lip of linea aspera
Adductor Longus actions
Adducts the hip at the coxal joint
Medially rotates the hip at the coxal joint
Assists to flex the hip at the coxal joint
Adductor Longus nerve
Obturator nerve
Adductor Magnus O/I
O: inferior ramus of pubis, ramus of ischium and ischial tuberosity
I: medial lip of linea aspera and adductor tubercle of femur
Adductor Magnus Actions
Adduct the hip at the coxal joint Medially rotate the hip at the coxal joint
Assist to flex the hip at the coxal joint
Posterior fibres help extend the hip at the coxal joint
