Q

When creating a drive for a Windows Share, how would you hide it on the file explorer?

A

Add a $ to the end of the name
Hidden files can still be accessed if the name is known but just won’t show in the file explorer. So this cannot be used as a security feature.

Q

Define a Proxy server.

A

Intermediary server that acts as a gateway between users and the internet, handling requests on the user’s behalf and relaying responses. It provides benefits such as IP address masking for privacy, enhanced security by filtering malicious content and acting as a firewall, and improved network performance by caching frequently accessed web pages.

Proxy servers are used to:
- control internet access
- bypass geographical restrictions
- protect both individual users and entire corporate networks from online threats.
