What are the general principles of carriage of DG by Air?

Answer 29

1. Package(s) shall be from leaks and in a safe condition for carriage. 2. Consignments shall be loaded nearest to the cargo door when practical (when aircraft trim and/or role restrictions permit) 3. Consignments shall be stowed away from objects or projections which could puncture or otherwise damage the container. 4. Consignments shall be stowed away from any source of radiant heat such as hot air ducts or under-floor heating systems.

What are the principles for handling and loading packages containing liquid DG?

1. Always handled, loaded and stowed in accordance with their ‘this way up’ label. 2. Packages with this label shall be stowed on the main floor or holds that are level. 3. Such packages are not to be stowed on angled ramps except where otherwise permitted in the DGM.
