The Aerodrome controller is responsible for the safety and movement of the aircraft in the airlfield from the time it pushes back from the stand to departing and vice versa.

Aerodrome controller will issue instructions for the aircraft to push back from the stand, taxi to and from the runway, and issue clearances to take off and land

Runway used is dependant on wind conditions.
( aircraft prefer to land and depart into wind )

In addition Aerodrome controllers will issue routings and clearances to aircraft prior to departure and ensure the safe movement of all vehicles that are moving around the airfield.

At busier units
Task split between number of controllers
In general split between runway specific tasks (AIR)
and movement between the stands and runway vicinity (GROUND)
