What are the 4 Ds of Diagnosis?
1) Deviation/ Deviance
2) Danger
3) Distress
4) Dysfunction
Describe each of the 4Ds.
1) Deviation - When an individual deviates/ goes off pattern from a social or a statistical norm.
2) Danger - How much does the problem pose danger on the individual or others regardless on whether it’s mentally or physically.
3) Distress - The extent to which the problem stresses the individual but its a non-linear relationship and a subjective measure.
4) Dysfunction - Where the thought problem is significant enough to be considered a diagnosis, interferes with an individual’s life in a major way.
