When the Takeoff Configuration Warnings arms?
o airplane is on the ground, and
o FUEL CONTROL switches are in RUN position, and :
o either engine thrust is in takeoff range, and
o thrust reversers are not unlocked or deployed, and
o airspeed is less than V1.
When the Landing Configuration Warnings arms?

extended for landing. The EICAS warning message CONFIG GEAR is displayed if:
▪ The airplane is in flight, a landing gear is not down and locked and one of
these occurs :
▪ Below 800 feet radio altitude and a thrust lever is at idle
▪ The flaps are in a landing position
Describe time critical warnings. How are they announced?
o It requires immediate crew awareness and corrective action to mantain safe flight .
o Master Warning lights , voices alerts , and PFD and HUD indications or stick shakers
announce time critical conditions.
Describe Warning alert ?

Describe how the GPWS Look-Ahead Terrain Alerting Display is activated and where it
will display.
o It is displayed on the ND and mini-map by selecting Terrain. It is depicted by 3 colors:
▪ Green : Terrain is between 500’ and 2000’ below the aircraft.
▪ Yellow : Terrain is between 500’ below and 2000’ above the aircraft.
▪ Red : Terrain is more than 2000’ above the aircraft.
How do you select Ground Proximity Flap Override? What is inhibited when selected and
what is displayed? Does the system reset automatically?
o It is selected through the Tunning and Control Panel ( TCP ) - GPWS switch.
o It inhibits TOO LOW FLAPS and TOO LOW TERRAIN ; The EICAS message GPWS FLAP
OVRD is displayed.
o The system resets 10 min after cabin door is opened after landing.

RA’s
Which TCAS alerts generate voice aural alerts?

Does a TA require an avoidance maneuver?
No ( QRH NNM – If traffic is sighted , maneuver if needed ).
What are the 4 categories of TCAS traffic displayed on the ND?
o Resolution Advisory RA’s
o Traffic Advisory TA’s
o Proximate Traffic
o Other Traffic.
How is each category pictorially represented?
o Resolution Advisory (RA) with a filled Red square
o Traffic Advisory (TA) with a filled Amber circle

What is the significance of an Advisory message being at the top of its list?
It is the most recent message.
What is the effect of pressing the EICAS Event Record Switch?
Records 5 EICAS events.
Describe TAMS. Where does it appear and when ?
o Trust Asymmetry Minimum Speed
o It is a system that provides aural and visual warnings to alert the crew of the minimum
control speed with large asymmetry. Displayed on the speed tape.
o TAMS varies with weight and CG and is approximately equal to minimum control speed
for the current thrust applied during take off or go-around.
o When airspeed decreases to TAMS , the AIRSPEED , AIRSPEED aural sounds and Master
WARNING illuminates.
