Primary Amine
An amine in which only one carbon is directly bonded to the nitrogen atom. The amine therefore has the -NH₂ group as a part of its structure.
Secondary Amine
An amine in which two carbons are directly bonded to the nitrogen atom. The amine therefore has the -NH group as a part of its structure.
Tertiary Amine
An amine in which three carbons are directly bonded to the nitrogen atom. The amine therefore has the -N group as a part of its structure.
Coupling Reaction
A reaction in which two benzene rings are linked together through an azo group (-N=N-).
