What have you done to prepare yourself for a career in Radiography?

A
  • talk about skills - communication, teamwork, care - link these to personal experiences
    i.e. british red cross training, NHS work experience, NCS summer camp etc.
  • researching + watching videos online

What strengths do you have that will help you deal with all the work involved?

A
  • compassionate + empathetic person - vital for patient care - link to experience (NHS work experience speaking with a patient) - why is this good for a diagnostic radiographer
  • can communicate within a team - NCS - explain why it is important for a radiographer
  • competent - wanting to always complete my work well - why this would be good for a radiographer

What interests you most about radiography and why?

A
  • technology + idea of patient care
    expand:
  • technology - interested in how the technology involved can be used to learn more about human anatomy + can contribute to patient care
  • involves practical work - being able to provide care for patients + building skills such as communication - being able to use machines
  • patient care - being able to provide reassurance and care for patients - job where I can utilise my skills to help others

What contribution do you hope to make to the field of radiography?

A
  • wanting to improve experiences for patients - ensure that they are feeling comfortable + reassured, reduce anxiety for patients
  • want to contribute well to a team - to be able to communicate + work effectively with others in multidisciplinary team - to be supportive
  • to be able to contribute in producing high quality images in which clinicians + radiologists will use to interpret + provide a more accurate diagnosis

Why the university of Huddersfield?

A

  • involves lectures - able to work independently - link to why this is good for a radiographer
  • able to participate in simulations, discussions + group tasks - build on skills such as teamwork + communication
  • global professional reward - (extra qualification we complete alongside our degree) - built into our course, allows us to become more employable, confident + prepared for life after university
  • provides both primary + secondary care - 1000 hours of clinical placements in West Yorkshire within NHS trusts
  • can learn directly from experienced radiographers, healthcare professionals + service users
  • can gain experience in private hospitals, charities + university research settings
  • Huddersfield is away from home but not too far - can learn to be independent + explore new places, as well as able to visit family too
