Q

Are there any concerns about Asian Jumping Worms in your mulch?

A

There is no concern because our mulch is processed at 140-160F, which kills any cocoons or worms. Additionally, mulch is not stored long enough to pose a risk.

Q

“My mulch has ‘shotgun’ mold growing from it, now theres black dots all over the side of my house and car. How can I remedy this?”

A

Artillery Fungus — Prevention & Management

Cedar mulch is more resistant to Artillery Fungus

Keep mulch drier by occasionally stirring; risk highest spring/fall.

Spores can persist from prior mulch beds.

Mixing ~40% mushroom compost into mulch can significantly reduce artillery fungus spore production.
