• start with the A line which can go anywhere usually close to the reference line
• then plot the X line from the A line
• the L1 and then L2 lines from A then mark S1/S2 where lines intersect
• use dial scale to mark out where horizontal line goes. “A” horizontal from dial goes on A line and B goes on line X which will now become B
• where that line intersects L1 and L2 become your H1/H2
• to get your direction of move turn graph so the shim scale is facing you.
