Midges
Smallest and hardiest stream insects. Hatch in variety of water types/temperatures. Common in tail waters. Best fished in winter months in clear shallow conditions.
Mayflies
Come in a variety of sizes but consistent body structure. Nymphs have 3 tails and streamlined body. Adults fly gracefully and look like sailboats on the water
Caddis
Common in summer months when water temp above 50. Nymphs develop hard casing like caterpillar. Adults look like moths and have tent shaped wings.
Stoneflies
Nymphs have 2 tails and 2 antennas. Vary greatly in size. Hatch from exoskeleton along the bank, leaving exoskeleton behind. Adults have 2 sets of wings.
