Title
Type of enzyme and hydrogen peroxide investigation
Aim
To investigate the effect of changing enzyme on enzyme activity( represented by height of foam0 on hydrogen peroxide)
Enzymes are biological catalysts
which means enzymes speed up chemical reactions in all living cells
An enzyme is specific to its substrate
This is because an enzymes active site is only complementary to one active site, meaning the substrate is the only substance whose molecules exactly fit into the active site
Enzymes have an optimum temp of 37 degrees
To function effeceintly an enzyme requires suitable temprature and a suitible ph , each enzyme is found to be most active in its optimum / best conditions
Method
3 measuring cylinders were set up containing hydrogen peroxide, detergent and a different enzyme. As top clock was used to keep time when finished foam produced was measured.
