Moles =
Mass / molar mass
Conc =
Moles / vol
How to find the empirical formula when you’re given either the percentages or the masses of the elements present
If you’re given percentages convert the percentage to a decimal
If you’re given masses, then just use the masses given
Find the number of moles of each of the substances present
Divide the moles by the smallest amount of moles
(For example, if two substances are present and one of the substances is two moles and the other is just one mole then you would divide them goes by one since it’s the smallest number of moles)
The resulting number will be the ratio of each substance
If one of the substances is a decimal, then multiply it by whatever so that it becomes an integer
(For example, if it’s 1.5 moles of a certain substance then you would multiply those moles by two in order to get integers)
